Overview

Our Challenge

Simmer wanted to open a spot in the fast growing neighborhood of NoMad in NYC. Creating two unique concepts that are able to stand on their own, yet still work well together.

Building brands that paid homage to each other, but didn't overlap was a unique challenge.

Our Approach

Keeping the concepts completely separate. Bright, clean, chic aesthetic in the cafe - dark, intimate and sexy in the cocktail bar.

eater review

Patent Pending was on Eater's best cocktail bars in NYC for 7 months straight.

"...you'll emerge all at once into a dark, sexy cave-like space. You'll make your way through the alcove full of low-hanging lanterns and into a nicer version of the bar you'd hoped to find here: it really is that good-looking."

- UrbanDaddy

New York Times

Patent Pending and Patent Coffee have both been critically acclaimed by the press.

"...the menu is the work of multiple artists and writers, and is an experience in istelf."

- Thirsty

Patent Coffee

We wanted Patent Coffee to be able to stand alone as a great little coffee shop.
